Probate

The property of a deceased person and the interests associated with it are dealt with in probate proceedings. Probate disputes related to the property of the deceased and their legal heirs are handled by probate courts. Contested probate proceedings usually involve wills, which must be signed by the testator. Administrative duties related to probate proceedings are handled by an executor, who is appointed by the deceased. The executor, or an administrator appointed by the court, is in charge of the administrative and financial affairs of the deceased’s property.
