Family Law
Family law is the branch of law that deals with domestic issues and disputes related to family matters. It encompasses marriage, divorce, child custody, child support, visitation rights, alimony, property settlements, domestic violence, adoption, and guardianship. Each state has different laws relating to these matters. A majority of the states determine the jurisdiction of a case depending on the domicile of the parties to the dispute. Parties are encouraged to settle their dispute through mediation, which is an informal way of amicably settling differences. |
